The company has been in operation for over 30 years, starting just in the UK but growing organically and through acquisition to be a global player in the sports graphics arena. Key clients include Sky Sports, FIFA, Star India and Supersport covering mainstream sports such as Premier League football, national and domestic cricket, as well as World Events such as Rugby World Cup and Euro 2020.

The company operates worldwide with the Head Office in Hemel Hempstead. We also have offices in Australia, New Zealand, India, South Africa, Malaysia, Singapore, and the US.

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on UK Finance Manager to join the Finance team based at our Head Office, managing a small team of two. The role will report into the Global Financial Controller and will work closely with them to ensure month end reporting deliverables are met. You will be a key member in a team which is responsible for the UK reporting for key stakeholders within the business.

The role will be office based in Hemel Hempstead while learning the various aspects of the role and undergoing training, however the business is open to flexible working and potential working from home some of the time once the role is established.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ownership of the daily, weekly and monthly finance reporting for the UK entities – UK plus 3 holding companies.
  • Calculation and processing of month end journals for accruals, prepayments, accrued revenue and deferred revenue.
  • Manage and oversee all accounting operations including receivables, payables, payroll, as well as maintaining a robust general ledger.
  • Daily bank postings to the general ledger.
  • Manage the supplier payments process and ensure payments are processed weekly, including sending any remittances to suppliers.
  • Work with the Logistics Coordinator to ensure fixed assets are accurately reflected in Sage and monthly postings for depreciation and disposals are processed.
  • Work with the Operations Manager to ensure all freelancer costs have been captured in the month.
  • Liaise with other Finance Managers of the subsidiaries in the Group to ensure all intercompany balances reconcile and investigate any differences.
  • Responsible for debtor management and issuing of statements to customers.
  • Coordination of the monthly updates to forecast to the end of the current and next financial year, as well as understanding the key drivers behind the movements in forecast revenues/expenses against budgets and prior month’s forecast.
  • Reconcile the monthly sales in the accounting system to the forecast submissions from the PM’s and investigate any variances.
  • Coordination and management of the preparation of the annual UK budgets.
  • Understanding and monitoring of variances to budgets.
  • Business partnering with various departments around the company, to include verbal and written communication to all stakeholders of the company in a polite and professional manner.
  • Preparation of monthly UK payroll for around 100 employees for 2 companies, including payment submissions to HMRC and year end payroll processes.
  • Preparation and posting of monthly payroll journals, including the monthly reconciliations between Sage Payroll and Sage Accounts.
  • HR and payroll administration to include, but not limited to; pensions reporting, private medical/salary sacrifice (e.g. Bike2Work), processing of joiners and leavers including offer letters and contracts.
  • Preparation of the monthly payroll forecast file.
  • Preparation and submission of all required financial reporting and management accounts accurately and within set timetable.
  • Month end and year end management reporting and analysis.
  • Leading the planning and delivery of the UK audit for all 4 entities and being the key contact point for our external auditors.
  • Assisting with the monthly transfer pricing calculations and invoicing between subsidiaries.
  • Management, support and development of the UK finance team which includes 2 direct reports.
  • Preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns for the VAT Group.
  • Completion and submission of ONS Surveys for the UK company.
  • Responsible for all statutory reporting compliance and management of external bodies (HMRC, bank, pension, childcare vouchers etc)
  • Responsible for streamlining new accounting/finance processes and systems/software as required.
  • Ensuring that internal processes and systems are robust so that reporting and review deadlines are met, and the balance sheet is fully reconciled at each period end.
  • Work across all areas of the business to identify process improvements, operational efficiencies, and opportunities to improve profitability.
  • Ensuring revenue recognition rules are complied with and followed.
  • To complete all other duties and responsibilities that are deemed connected with your work that may be expected of you by the Group Financial Controller and CFO.

    • Required Skills

  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of using Sage Payroll, Sage Accounts and Xero.
  • Hands on, proactive individual able to work to deadlines.
  • Strong analytical ability.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Fully qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) accountant preferable, with experience in similar roles.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task.
