The New York-based National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has revealed the nominations for its 45th annual Sports Emmy Awards, with three Silver Spoon projects receiving 6 nominations – 4 for its partnership with CBS and Nickelodeon for the coverage of Super Bowl LVIII, 1 for their work with DISNEY+ and ESPN+ on Toy Story Funday Football, and 1 for their work on the Big City Greens Classic.
Silver Spoon, the world-leading experts in innovative, real time virtual production content on Unreal Engine, and who recently became a part of the AE Live Group, have been nominated in the several categories for their collaboration on innovative projects, including:
Big City Greens Classic: The 2023 NHL Big City Greens Experience was a groundbreaking collaboration with ESPN and Disney, that redefined the way fans engaged with the game. Silver Spoon’s cutting-edge technology and creativity in live motion capture took centre stage, bringing together the magic of Disney’s “Big City Greens” with the intensity of NHL action.
Live from ESPN’s Studio, Silver Spoon used motion-capture cameras to capture every move, turning the hosts into live, animated versions modeled after beloved Disney’s Big City Greens characters.
Toy Story Funday Football: In October 2023, Silver Spoon rewrote the game day playbook when they partnered with ESPN+ and Disney+ to Bring NFL Fans a first-of-its-kind, fully-animated alternate NFL game presentation of the Falcons and Jaguars in Pixar’s Iconic “Toy Story” universe.
The team transformed hosts, Drew Carter and Booger McFarland, into Toy Story inspired characters and animated them live, in realtime, for a truly entertaining and unique special.
Super Bowl LVIII: CBS and Nickelodeon teamed up with Silver Spoon for the record-breaking 2024 Super Bowl LVIII, with the main aim of telling a cohesive creative story, developing flexible AR moments to keep viewers entertained, and pushing the technical boundaries of what had been done in live AR on TV.
It was Silver Spoon’s biggest ever AR and virtual activation – 18 tracked cameras, 2 simultaneous broadcasts of the Super Bowl on CBS and Nickelodeon, over 40 unique AR graphics all built in Unreal, a completely 3D animated rendition of ‘Sweet Victory’ and, best of all, live motion capture with iconic characters such as the SpongeBob & Patrick, Larry the Lobster, and Sandy Cheeks.
The coverage moved the chains on storytelling, entertainment, and technology that bit further, attracting a wider and more diverse viewership, and a new generation of NFL fans.
“We are delighted and honored to share in these incredible nominations with our clients for the 45th annual Sports Emmy Awards, said Silver Spoon’s Managing Director, Dan Pack. “It is an exciting time to be working in this industry and we are exceptionally proud of the work we and our partners have produced over the last year.”
In July 2023, AE Live, the world-leading global provider of data and broadcast solutions, announced the acquisition of Silver Spoon, joining Ignite in the AE Live Group.
