AE Live (AE) is delivering its services for esteemed broadcaster, ITV Sport, to assist with their presentation of the Rugby World Cup (RWC) throughout the six-week long tournament.
AE’s in-house creative team has built in excess of 30 specially designed graphics templates for the tournament in Vizrt. These templates, which included augmented reality (AR) content, were delivered by an AE crew of four, consisting of a match, trio and AR operator, as well as a tech guarantee, at ITV Sport’s striking RWC set situated at Maidstone studios.
AE utilised Stype’s Redspy optical camera tracking system to produce the AR graphics, which included banners, maps, stadiums, team formations, match idents, player profiles, tables, official tournament data driven match stats, kick maps and the eye-catching video wall.
For the latter stages of the tournament, ITV Sport’s presentation moved to match venues in Japan, where a single AE operator delivered core presentation graphics.
AE’s project manager, Mark Crawley, commented, “ITV Sport’s impressive RWC set design has enabled us to integrate some really innovative AR elements, complimented by our on-screen presentation graphics. It’s been a real team effort from AE, from our operators and engineers working on the productions, to our in-house design team building and delivering the multiple elements. It’s great to say, that with our crews delivering the world feed graphics from Japan, every graphic you see on screen on ITV Sport’s Rugby World Cup coverage is being delivered by AE. It’s been a real pleasure working with ITV Sport on this tournament and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve on our next project together”.
ITV Sport’s Executive Producer, Paul McNamara, also commented, “ITV Sport has been delighted with the service provided by AE. They took our design for on-screen graphics and our brief for AR graphics and have delivered on both fronts”.
In addition to assisting Media Rights Licensees with their presentation of the competition, AE are proudly delivering the official tournament information system and host broadcast graphics service for World Rugby for the second consecutive RWC.
